The Difference Between Abstract and Nonrepresentational Art
Representational art actually takes skill to produce, it cant look like anything, once it does it is no longer nonrepresentational it becomes abstract. Abstract art is a distorted version of something realistic. It's like taking a plate and breaking it into peices and then trying to put it back together. Why Create What I Create?
I have always loved sculptures and things that made me want to touch them. When I first started painting I strictly created nonrepresentational art. 90% of art is absract because it is a distorted version of something realistic. In the beginning I looked for found objects to paint over to create the depth and texture I wanted. I used everything from burlap, sand, glass, metal and objects out of burnt down houses.
